Perry Scott came into contact with Disco music while on vacation in Italy in 1978. For the first time in a big disco, he discovered real disco music when he first heard Macho - I, ma Man! From then on he started collecting all disco on vinyl which is now a very large amount. While he became more and more a fan of disco music, he actually wanted this Disco to be heard everywhere. In 1980 he started a radio station in Vlaardingen called Tiran Radio with which he and his friends could eventually play Disco in the free airwaves. Tiran Radio was forced to shut down by various government agencies! But due to the emerging internet radio could be made again and so he decided to found Discoline Radio in 2002. You can hear Perry Scott every week with his famous DiscoMixVibes On Discoline Radio
MasterA started his DJ career in the later part of the 70’s. In those days MasterA was DJ on a radio station in the Netherlands called Radio Kiss FM. Radio Kiss FM was in the 70s a famous disco radio station in California. Back then this was illegal since you were not allowed to broadcast if you did not have a licence but there were a lot of pirate radio stations back then.
MasterA also had a drive-in Disco in the 70’s and early 80’s with a few friends where we did the music for parties and weddings. But then other important things came into his life so that his hobby and the love for music was moved to the background but the love for music and especially Disco and Italo did never disappear.
Then for a long time MasterA only collected music and made some mixes but got involved in DJ work again when he joined Discoline Radio in 2003. Since then MasterA makes 12-24 new mixes every year and this will increase as soon as he has more time to spend on music, which is next to cycling his greatest hobby.
Rene Johnson (In Memory)
D.J. Rene Johnson was a long time with Discoline Radio. We always called him Mr. Italo. Rene was all about Italo music. He collected all artists, all labels, many records and 12" etc. The Rene Johnson mixes were Italo mixes.
He also liked the Disco sound but Italo was this favourite.
In the past the Discoline station was housed with Rene. He took care of the 'health' of the station and made sure that the programs were received and added into the broadcasting schedule.
We will miss him as one of the 3 'of the original' DJ's of Discoline Radio. That's why we have decided to collect all Rene's programs with his wife and made sure that all he created in all the Discoline years will be broadcasted on our station.
We also have added the funeral card that was send out to all people who were invited, due to the COVID-19 this was a very small group, but we gave Rene a very nice 'Italo' funeral.
We cannot give you all the details since that is restricted according the privacy rules.
We hope Rene's music will stay with us for many to come. Rest in peace Italo friend!
